慈利汉戏是地方大戏剧种常德高腔的重要一支，唱腔、伴奏音乐有高腔、昆腔、低牌子、弹腔和民间丝弦小调等，以弹腔（南北路）为主。
Cili Han Opera is an important branch of Changde Gaoqiang(high pitched tune), a local opera genre. Its music and singing include Gaoqiang, Kunqiang, Dipaizi, Tanqiang, and folk silk tunes, with Tanqiang,also known as Nanbeilu, as the main style.
慈利汉戏小戏《八仙山中有神仙》讲述身为剧团退休演员的父亲，与在景区任职安保经理的儿子，在规范管理与安全生产间所产生的矛盾。语言诙谐幽默，深受广大观众朋友的喜爱。
